The music was great but Jammit was much more than just the music”. Sue Jones said that “The legacy of Jammit will live on in the connections that have been made between people, both audience and performers. The auction items had four weeks exposure without a reserve with funds directed into a dedicated Paypal account. All pieces of equipment on the schedule were grouped and then listed on ebay by Sue Jones who has been a major contributor to Jammit’s facilitation. He said the exercise had been a win, win, win situation. He said with the equipment now in the hands of community members it would continue to do what it was designed to do and that the proceeds from the sale, now in the capable hands of the Woodford Lions Club, will help them to continue to do the good work they do.

Mr Lynn said that the way Jammit’s facilitation was structured had given Jammit participants the use of high quality equipment at Jammit functions. The funds resulted from the auctioning of the PA equipment purchased over the last few years included amps, a mixing desk, microphones, stands, lights and leads as listed on the equipment schedule. On Wednesday Woodford Lions President Mike Chistie, received a donation of $3 836.97 from Jammit facilitators, John Lynn and Norm Smith. What you guys at jammit have done for this fellow is really a wonderful thing.

John used some of the gear one night at a function in Warwick so that it was officially second hand to avoid paying full import duty. I have a note here to thank Kevin Brand for donating the guitar and I probably should also thank John Lynn for all the other stuff that went with the package. In the last few months I think he has tried to wear it out as he plays a lot and I am told he will able to do things on it that his other guitar would never be able to do. I think he had a very happy work day and turned up later in the afternoon to pick it up. We had to talk a bit so that it was clear to him that the guitar and the other stuff in the case was all his to keep and who it was from. He asked if the guitar could stay at our place until after work. He was visibly moved as his eyes just lit right up but he did not even take it out of the case. Patris carefully cut off the plastic cling wrap John had put around the guitar case and looked inside. The amp and music stand and mic stand and leads and the other things will come over in a container mid year. He came to my place and I presented him with the guitar. Simply put, within the week of my return to Villa early this year, I saw Patris going to work one morning and told him I had something to give him. Not being capable of sending photos from my phone I visited John and Anita (Lynn) on my recent return and was immediately asked to write up a report. This was done in early January this year. I had the pleasure of delivering the guitar and some of the other gear to the young man named Patris who lives in Mele Village near Port Villa. The good people at jammit decided to give a guitar to a budding musician in Vanuatu with not quite up to scratch equipment. See you at jammit on Thursdays from 6:30pm at the Woodford Bowls Club. Of course Sir Cumference was the roundest knight at the table so conversely Norm Smith will be next week’s coordinator. Like jammit Knights, we had a round table meeting over the break and have decided to share the role of coordinating the acts for the night.

This is an astronomical event that has been predicted for some time although the Sandy Hook relief fund was set up on 11 Jan, three days before the shooting on 14 Jan, … which is a seriously good prediction. jammit will happen on Thursday and then the Asteroid 2012 DA14 will pass closest to earth on Friday. Another two big things are going to happen next week. I suppose the Wag the Dog solution to cover the issue was to release a corruption story in sport. Lucky there was that “drugs in sport” story to take up all the media time. Her family is holidaying in Canberra where Federal Labor identities are taking shelter from the Eddie Obeid avalanche. We did miss our photographer Sue Jones who will also be away next week. It was a great first night back at planet jammit. Remember when John Lynn used to write all the jammit articles.
